for Theo~
Theo showed me this strategy game "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri," made in 1999. I decided to dive into after finding out he left us.. this composition is really raw, and was part of processing of the shocking loss. all of the sound sources for the composition were taken from the Alpha Centauri "fx" folder in the game's files.
To introduce me to the game, he shared with me a recording of music from the soundtrack titled "Yang's Planetfall' referring to the arrival of Yang, one of the game's ideological leaders, and his faction onto the fictional planet in the nearby star system.
Theo recommended me to play Alpha Centauri knowing I would appreciate its unique dynamic soundtrack (one that changes as you play).
I titled the piece "theo's planetfall" thinking of the song he sent me and this scene I imagine of Theo as both a traveler to to an alien world and an innovative leader there, as one of the most interesting ideological and critical minds of my generation.
rest in peace.
This imagined scene continues in the next track on this album, also sourced from the game's sound files, titled "living planet."

track 6 "mind worms" takes its name from the game planet's indigenous lifeforms.
track 8 "fusion" also contains samples from the game.
